Trapped (Hide and Seek Book 1) Review

Now that I have finished reading this book from cover to cover, I have to give it 5 stars. Great story, intriguing plot, and a good mystery to hold it all together! Sally Mason is truly an author you should keep your eye out for.

“You have to fight them, Kelsey, or they’ll ruin the rest of your life. Don’t give them the satisfaction of completely breaking you.”

When Kelsey Miller was sixteen, she was kidnapped, beaten, and raped by two men—neither of whom was ever brought to justice. Three years later, the past still haunts her and fear, pain, and anger have taken over her world. Trapped in a cycle of self-harm and depression, she becomes her own worst enemy. One night, her kidnappers return and ask her to make the ultimate sacrifice. This time, the stakes are even higher since her tormentors are not only determined to crush her spirit but her life.

Trapped is the first book of the Hide & Seek thriller series that features electrifying action, gripping plot twists, and characters you’ll grow to love. If you like raw emotions and darker themes, this book is right for you. Pick up a copy of Trapped today to discover this exciting new series.

Warning: This story includes relevant social topics such as anxiety, self-harm (cutting), and depression, as well as references to rape/abuse. Do not read if you find any of these topics disturbing. They are not meant to upset anyone but to raise awareness.

I have to say, I am currently very content with the ending of this book. It made me warm on the inside, and I feel that the characters deserved their HEA after everything they had undergone, which was a lot of mental and physical torment.

This story is a tough read if you are squeamish about rape, abduction, torture, but it is also an amazing tale about a survivor of rape, Kelsey, who managed to cast her demons aside and come out on top. The mystery in this story kept me going to the very end. The hints were very well placed and the plot was well thought out. I have come to like the characters (with the exception of the bad guys) and will most likely miss them now that the tale is over. I would love to know what happens with Finn and Kelsey later on.

*I received an ARC for an honest review*
